Report: Babcock visits with Sabres owners, general manager Sunday
Mike Babcock is a popular guy.
The most sought after coach on the open market is feeling out his suitors and will visit with the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, reports WGR550 Buffalo's Matthew Coller.
John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports that an employee spotted Babcock touring the facility with owners Terry and Kim Pegula and general manager Tim Murray.
Babcock has already spoken with the Toronto Maple Leafs, while other clubs such as the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, and San Jose Sharks are without a bench boss and could be interested in his services.
Some clubs may show a preference in hiring former Sharks coach Todd McLellan, as Babcock may cost a small fortune despite his success speaking volumes.
The Detroit Red Wings - whom the coach could also return to - never suffered a losing season nor did they miss the playoffs with Babcock at the helm, winning the Stanley Cup in 2007-08.
Buffalo fired Ted Nolan on April 12 after finishing last in the NHL with a 23-51-8 record.
