Top prospect Nikolaj Ehlers scores outrageous goal in QMJHL playoffs
Perhaps no top 2014 draft-eligible prospect has seen their stock skyrocket like Halifax Mooseheads winger Nikolaj Ehlers. The Danish winger finished the season on a 14-game point streak and finished the regular season with 104 points in 63 games for the Mooseheads.
On Friday night the Mooseheads kicked off their playoff run with a game against the Charlottetown Islanders that was broadcast on national television (in Canada). Ehlers opened the scoring in that game with a ludicrous goal.
First Ehlers flashed his high-end skating ability as he took a pass and split the Islanders defense. Then without breaking stride, Ehlers kicked the puck from his skate to his stick and beat the goaltender five-hole with an absolutely nasty back-hand. He did all of that at full speed:
It wasn't long ago that Ehlers was listed as the 22nd best draft-eligible North American skater by Central Scouting's Midterm list. But now if you hear his name called in the top-10 at the 2014 NHL Entry draft, you'll understand why.
