The Columbus Blue Jackets will meet with defenseman Zach Werenski after this weekend's NHL draft to discuss his future with the team, sources told Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The 2025-26 Norris Trophy winner has been the subject of trade speculation in recent weeks. Werenski, however, has not submitted a trade request, reports Friedman.
The 28-year-old has two years left on his contract with a $9.58-million cap hit.
Werenski racked up over 20 goals and 80 points for the second straight season in 2025-26. He was the runner-up for the Norris Trophy in 2024-25.
He's spent his entire 10-year career in Columbus since the Blue Jackets drafted him eighth overall in 2015.
Werenski won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in February, tallying a goal and five assists in the tournament. Two players from that team have already requested trades this offseason: Dylan Larkin and Brady Tkachuk. While Larkin remains with the Detroit Red Wings, the Ottawa Senators traded Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers on Sunday.
