1. Alex Ovechkin

Position: LW
Age: 40
Last team: Capitals
2025-26 cap hit: $9.5M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
82 32 32 17:27 50.78%

Ovechkin's inclusion on this list is unique in that there's a slim chance he leaves Washington and retirement remains on the table. That said, the future of the NHL's goal-scoring king will be a prominent storyline this summer. Ovechkin is fresh off his 20th 30-goal campaign, and a push to reach 1,000 career goals - he sits at 929 - might entice him to sign a multi-year contract.

2. Anthony Mantha

Position: RW
Age: 31
Last team: Penguins
2025-26 cap hit: $2.5M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
81 33 31 15:11 47.49%

Mantha has bounced around throughout his career but posted a career-high 33 goals and 64 points this past season. The majority of his production came at even strength, and he could be an attractive middle-six option for teams not looking to break the bank on the open market.

3. Mats Zuccarello

Position: LW
Age: 38
Last team: Wild
2025-26 cap hit: $4.125M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
59 15 39 18:39 54.99%

Zuccarello is pushing 40 but plays a cerebral style of hockey that has aged beautifully. He's notched 317 points in 345 games over the past five seasons and remains more than capable of keeping up with and complementing elite linemates. If Minnesota is priced out of the race for his services, Zuccarello should have a strong market of suitors seeking offensive help.

4. Viktor Arvidsson

Position: LW
Age: 33
Last team: Bruins
2025-26 cap hit: $4M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
69 25 29 14:36 48.15%

After a disappointing stint in Edmonton, Arvidsson bounced back this past season with his sixth career 20-goal campaign despite playing limited minutes. The veteran Swede can bring speed and finishing ability to any lineup at a relatively cheap cost.

5. Patrick Kane

Position: RW
Age: 37
Last team: Red Wings
2025-26 cap hit: $3M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
67 16 41 17:42 52.81%

Kane can still put up points and all but two of his goals last season came at even strength. He joined the Red Wings to help them get back into the playoff picture, but success hasn't materialized and Detroit's future is murky with captain Dylan Larkin wanting out. Although he's already won everything, there should be a fit for Kane on a contender somewhere.

Defensemen

1. Rasmus Andersson

Position: RD
Age: 29
Last team: Golden Knights
2025-26 cap hit: $4.55M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
81 17 30 23:12 55.87%

Andersson isn't a No. 1 blue-liner but can play top-four minutes and has put up solid offensive production throughout his career. There aren't many right-shot, all-situation defenders available this summer, so Andersson is likely to cash in.

2. John Carlson

Position: RD
Age: 36
Last team: Ducks
2025-26 cap hit: $8M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
71 14 46 23:10 52.83%

Carlson remains highly productive 17 years into his career, finishing this past season ranked 11th among all blue-liners in points. He still logs huge minutes, can run a power play, and put up sterling underlying numbers during his post-deadline stint with the Ducks.

3. Jacob Trouba

Position: RD
Age: 32
Last team: Ducks
2025-26 cap hit: $8M

GP G A ATOI xGF%
81 10 25 22:50 50.06%

Trouba's reputation as a no-nonsense, physical defender has plenty of market value, and he should garner significant interest if he opts to leave Orange County.

Goaltenders

1. Sergei Bobrovsky

Age: 37
Last team: Panthers
2025-26 cap hit: $10M

GP Record SV% GAA GSAx
52 27-23-1 .877 3.07 -1.75

Bobrovsky's accomplished tenure with the Panthers appears to be coming to an end, but the veteran netminder hasn't indicated that he wants to hang up his pads. The two-time Stanley Cup champion is coming off a brutal year statistically, though his resume speaks for itself, and he may fit in a tandem role elsewhere.

2. Frederik Andersen

Age: 36
Last team: Hurricanes
2025-26 cap hit: $2.75M

GP Record SV% GAA GSAx
35 16-14-5 .874 3.05 9.03

Andersen may want to retire a champion, but he showed that he has game left with a dominant run in goal during the postseason. Andersen has signed three different contracts with the Hurricanes, so luring him out of Raleigh might be a challenge for any interested parties.

3. Stuart Skinner

Age: 27
Last team: Penguins
2025-26 cap hit: $2.6M

GP Record SV% GAA GSAx
50 23-17-9 .888 2.92 23.2

Although Skinner showed flashes after being traded to the Penguins, he was ultimately derailed by the inconsistency that's plagued him his entire career. At 27, with plenty of experience under his belt, Skinner should be able to find a new home this summer.
