JJ Peterka's stint with the Utah Mammoth is over after one season.
The Mammoth traded the German winger to the Boston Bruins for the 23rd overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a top-10 protected 2028 first-rounder that initially belonged to the Florida Panthers, the teams announced Friday.
Peterka tallied 25 goals and 47 points in 82 games with Utah in 2025-26. He posted a career-high 68 points with the Buffalo Sabres the year prior.
His average ice time fell from 18:11 in 2024-25 to 15:59 last season, then dropped further to just 13:38 in the postseason. During Utah's Round 1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, Peterka was held pointless and posted a minus-three rating in six games.
Peterka, 24, is entering the second season of a five-year contract with a $7.7-million cap hit.
The Mammoth acquired Peterka from the Sabres last summer in exchange for Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring.
Peterka will get a chance to play under Marco Sturm in Boston, the only German head coach in the NHL.
