Report: Red Wings want to add 2nd-line center, D-man
The Detroit Red Wings are hoping to add a second-line center and a right-handed defenseman before the March 6 trade deadline, TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Tuesday's edition of "Insider Trading."
The Red Wings are targeting players with term remaining on their contracts, as they're not interested in rentals, adds Dreger.
Looking to end a nine-year playoff drought, Detroit sits second in the Atlantic Division with a 32-16-5 record this season. The team's been hot lately, going 8-1-1 in its last 10 games.
The top players on theScore's big board who have term left and fit the Red Wings' positional wants are Nazem Kadri and Vincent Trocheck, as well as Dougie Hamilton and Justin Faulk.
Detroit is currently running Dylan Larkin, Andrew Copp, J.T. Compher, and Michael Rasmussen down the middle. The Red Wings also have Moritz Seider, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Jacob Bernard-Docker, and Travis Hamonic on the roster as right-handed rearguards.
Detroit has a pick in every round of the upcoming drafts except for the 2027 second round, which was sent to the Anaheim Ducks in the John Gibson trade.
