Stars' Robertson suffers lower-body injury in regular-season finale
Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson suffered a lower-body injury in his club's regular-season finale against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday night.
Robertson appeared to be hurt after taking a hit from forward Michael McCarron early in the second period, according to the Dallas Morning News. The star winger limped off the ice and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
"The purpose of resting people down the stretch was to hopefully avoid injury, and, unfortunately, we didn't do that with the Robertson injury," Dallas head coach Peter DeBoer said postgame, per NHL.com's Mike Heika. "So, tough night."
The Stars ended up dropping the contest 5-1 and are going into the playoffs having lost seven straight games.
Robertson was seen leaving Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with a brace on his right knee, per The Hockey News' Emma Lingan.
Robertson, 25, recorded one block in 6:06 of ice time before exiting the contest. He entered Wednesday's slate with a team-leading 35 goals while ranking second on Dallas with 80 points in 81 outings.
Dallas will face the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the postseason. The puck drops on Game 1 on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
