The Pittsburgh Penguins placed forward Evgeni Malkin on injured reserve Monday and designated him as week-to-week with a lower-body ailment.

Malkin was hurt Saturday in a collision with Seattle Kraken forward Chandler Stephenson. He left the game and was unable to return.

Players on IR are required to miss a minimum of seven days.

Malkin has logged 34 points in 47 games this season, his 19th with the Penguins. Pittsburgh recalled Jesse Puljujarvi from AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with Malkin unavailable.

The Penguins have plummeted to 15th in the Eastern Conference with a 3-6-1 run over their past 10 games.
