Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody is under investigation for animal cruelty, Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The case reportedly involves a dog, but no charges have been laid at this time.

The Ravens announced plans to terminate Cody's contract Friday - a curious move considering Cody is set to become a free agent when the league year ends.

Cody's agent, Peter Schaffer, denied allegations against his client, explaining that the dog died due to worms.

"There was no animal cruelty," Schaffer said, according to FOXSports' Mike Garafolo. "If this affects at all my client's ability to get a job, I'm going to do everything in my legal power to protect his rights."
