The New York Jets are placing rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. on injured reserve, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Cooper will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks as he continues to recover from an ankle sprain. The Jets had already ruled him out of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.
The 22-year-old sustained the injury in the first quarter of his NFL debut last weekend against the Tennessee Titans, and he exited after just four offensive plays.
Cooper is one of three first-round picks the Jets drafted in 2026. He caught 115 passes for 1,798 yards and 22 touchdowns across three seasons at Indiana.
His absence opens the door for more opportunities for Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams, and Arian Smith behind star Garrett Wilson.
