The news has since been confirmed by the team.

Once considered the best shutdown cornerback in the NFL, Asomugha departed Oakland in 2011, signing a five-year, $60 million deal (including $25 million guaranteed) with the Philadelphia Eagles, but was released after two disappointing seasons. The San Francisco 49ers signed him before the 2013 season, but waived the former California Golden Bear in November.
Since leaving Oakland, Asomugha was never able to replicate his form in eight seasons as a Raider, where quarterbacks seldomly threw in his direction.
