Cowboys' Lamb accepts blame for 'terrible' drops

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb didn't hide from scrutiny after he had a few costly drops in Thursday's season-opening 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Man, that was terrible," Lamb said postgame, according to Cowboys staff writer Patrik Walker. "I can't point fingers at anybody else. I take full accountability and everything else that comes with that. As a player, I've prayed for moments like that, and for the ball to come my way. To not come up with it, it stings a little bit."

Lamb had two crucial opportunities slip through his hands on the game's final drive, including a diving catch attempt on fourth down that sealed the loss.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Brian Schottenheimer came to Lamb's defense. Schottenheimer said there's no need to worry about the four-time Pro Bowl wideout.

"CeeDee's going to be fine," Schottenheimer said after his head coaching debut. "What a great player. This was a team defeat and we own that."

Prescott added: "(Lamb) took ownership and accountability. He shut me up in the same sense of taking accountability. It wasn't just those plays. There are throws I want back. But it's game one, and he's a guy who's gonna make those plays. We're not gonna get down on him or lose confidence in him, by any means."

Lamb had a strong start to Thursday's game before tailing off toward the end. He finished with seven catches on 13 targets for 110 yards.
