Report: Browns signing Diontae Johnson
The Cleveland Browns are signing wide receiver Diontae Johnson, sources told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Johnson visited the Browns on Monday. He'll ink a one-year contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The 28-year-old began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a disappointing 2024 season, failing to make an impact during stints with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans.
Johnson began last year with the Panthers, who acquired him from the Steelers. Carolina later sent him to Baltimore as part of a midseason trade. However, Johnson caught just one pass in four appearances before being released. He'd previously been suspended for one game after refusing to enter a contest. The former Pro Bowler later joined the Texans but had only two receptions.
A third-round pick in 2019, Johnson posted a career year in Pittsburgh with a 107-1,161-8 stat line in 2021.
He joins a Browns wide receiver room in need of more depth and impactful playmakers. Cleveland didn't select any wideouts in the 2025 NFL Draft, leaving Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Michael Woods II as the team's top options at the position.
