Report: Giants to hire Bowen as new DC
The New York Giants are hiring Shane Bowen to be their new defensive coordinator, a source told The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
The 37-year-old Bowen previously served as the Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator from 2021-23.
Tennessee's defense allowed 335.1 total yards and 21.6 points per contest with Bowen at the helm in 2023.
Bowen spent two years as the outside linebackers coach and two seasons as a defensive assistant with the Houston Texans prior to joining the Titans.
New York launched a search to fill its defensive play-caller vacancy after parting ways with Don "Wink" Martindale following two seasons. Head coach Brian Daboll and Martindale reportedly had a contentious relationship that fizzled out after the firing of two assistants close to Martindale.
The Giants finished 27th in total defense (361.7) and surrendered an average of 23.9 points per game in 2023.
