The Arizona Cardinals ruled out rookie running back Jeremiyah Love for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams due to an ankle injury, head coach Mike LaFleur announced Friday, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

LaFleur said there's been no discussion about putting Love on injured reserve.

Love sprained his right ankle during the preseason, but his current injury affects his left ankle. LaFleur said earlier this week that the issue has bothered the running back for a couple of weeks, according to team reporter Darren Urban.

The third overall pick averaged 1.8 yards per carry in last week's loss to the Detroit Lions, totaling 22 yards on 12 attempts. Love has rushed for 245 yards and a touchdown through five games.

Without Love, the Cardinals are expected to lean on running back Tyler Allgeier. The 26-year-old hasn't had much success this season, rushing for 3.4 yards per attempt.
