Vikings' Dobbs benched for Mullens in tight win over Raiders
The Minnesota Vikings replaced quarterback Joshua Dobbs with Nick Mullens during Sunday's 3-0 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Dobbs was benched in the fourth quarter with the score tied at zero after completing just 10 of his 23 pass attempts for 63 yards.
Mullens led a 13-play, game-winning drive late in the fourth frame to put Greg Joseph in position for the decisive 36-yard field goal. Joseph made the kick with 1:57 remaining, and the Vikings' defense intercepted Aidan O'Connell on the Raiders' ensuing drive.
Dobbs entered Sunday's game already on thin ice as the team's starter. The Vikings used their bye week to evaluate him after he threw four interceptions in his last appearance - a 12-10 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 12. However, he retained his role.
Acquired by Minnesota midseason, Dobbs is 1-3 as a starter for the Vikings before Sunday. In his Vikings debut, he relieved Jaren Hall and engineered a game-winning drive in the team's Week 9 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
