Tannehill among 3 Titans placed on IR
The Tennessee Titans placed quarterback Ryan Tannehill on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
The former Pro Bowl passer suffered an ankle injury in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Although there was optimism that Tannehill could return to action after undergoing surgery last week, he'll now miss the rest of the regular season.
Tannehill led Tennessee to a 6-6 record as a starter in 2022. He recorded 2,536 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions with a 65.2% completion rate.
Tennessee also placed linebackers Bud Dupree and Zach Cunningham on IR.
The Titans are giving Joshua Dobbs his first career start for their Week 17 Thursday night matchup against Dallas Cowboys.
Dobbs will start over rookie Malik Willis, who's started three games. The Liberty product has completed 31 of 61 pass attempts for 276 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions while going 1-2. Willis has also rushed for 123 yards and one score.
