1. San Francisco 49ers (5-0)
Previous rank: 2

San Francisco earned the top spot on our rankings after outlasting the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks on Sunday. Three of their five wins have come against conference finalists from last season, and the 49ers are 3-0 in the tough NFC West despite missing several key players due to injury.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)
Previous rank: 1
The first four games before a bye couldn't have gone much better for the undefeated Chiefs, who have a healthy Patrick Mahomes and a sensational new weapon in Kenneth Walker. Kansas City could record its third 5-0 start in the Mahomes era (2018 and 2024) with a win over the Chargers on Sunday.
3. Baltimore Ravens (4-1)
Previous rank: 3
The strength of the Ravens' roster shined without Lamar Jackson in Sunday's gutsy overtime win over the Falcons, with playmakers like Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, and Kyle Hamilton all starring at different times. Baltimore was a popular bounce-back candidate after last season's tailspin, and it's easy to see why after four wins in the opening five weeks.
4. Buffalo Bills (4-1)
Previous rank: 4
Buffalo proved its prowess Monday night by outlasting the Rams in a crazy overtime thriller. The Bills scored touchdowns on three straight offensive drives before the extra frame, proving that when they really need points, there isn't much opponents can do to slow them down. Even with concerns in the secondary, Buffalo is a freight train.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1)
Previous rank: 6

It wasn't pretty, but the Jaguars found a way to beat the Eagles in London. Jacksonville is now 13-2 in its last 15 regular-season games, and it could further strengthen its chase for back-to-back AFC South titles in another international matchup next week, this time against Houston.
6. Minnesota Vikings (5-0)
Previous rank: 7
The offense hasn't fully clicked, yet the Vikings have built themselves a nice cushion at the top of the NFC North courtesy of a ferocious defense. If Kyler Murray can continue to settle in - he's completed 76% of his passes over the last two weeks - then the Vikings will be a tough out for anyone as the season wears on.
7. Seattle Seahawks (3-2)
Previous rank: 5
There's no reason to panic; the undefeated 49ers were always going to be a tough task for the Seahawks. However, Seattle needs to start taking better care of the ball, as it's now suffered at least three turnovers in two of the last three weeks, including a season-worst four giveaways Sunday.
8. Denver Broncos (3-2)
Previous rank: 9
Sean Payton took back play-calling against the Chargers, but the offense continued to labor and only reached the end zone twice. There's no question the Broncos are loaded with talent, but the losses will catch up if they continue to be a bottom-eight team in passing, rushing, and scoring.
9. Chicago Bears (3-2)
Previous rank: 8
The Bears cruised in their first two contests without Caleb Williams, and then the Packers delivered them a reality check. Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum both struggled mightily in Green Bay, leaving the quarterback situation up in the air against the Falcons if Williams isn't ready to come back from a hamstring injury.
10. New England Patriots (3-2)
Previous rank: 12

Drake Maye snapped out of his early-season funk with a five-touchdown masterpiece against the Raiders. He'll need a couple more great outings before we declare him back, but Sunday's blowout win did remind us all how great the Patriots can be when their QB is on top of his game.
11. Los Angeles Rams (2-3)
Previous rank: 10
At times, the Rams look like the superteam they were supposed to be when the season started. But too often, they suffer from untimely penalties, a lack of defensive playmaking, a special-teams blunder, or a Matthew Stafford miscue. They're still dangerous, but 2-3 isn't the start Les Snead and Sean McVay had in mind when they pulled Aaron Donald out of retirement.
12. Cincinnati Bengals (3-2)
Previous rank: 13
The Bengals took care of business against the Dolphins to snap their skid at two games and got out of the first portion of the season in better shape than they did in years past. However, it's worth noting that Cincinnati's three wins are against opponents with a combined record of 2-13.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)
Previous rank: 17
No team has perfected the art of looking like contenders one week and pretenders the next quite like the Steelers, who've alternated wins and losses to open the season. They rebounded from a gutting loss to the Browns by putting up a season-high 34 points on the Colts. Can they capture some consistency when they visit the Buccaneers?
14. New York Giants (3-1-1)
Previous rank: 14
We're still not convinced the Giants are legit - they've benefited from a favorable schedule and would be 3-2 if the Commanders knew how to tell time. But at the end of the day, they've done enough to stay afloat while the rest of their NFC East counterparts sink themselves.
15. Philadelphia Eagles (2-3)
Previous rank: 11

Three straight losses have one of the NFL's most talented teams desperate for answers. Nick Sirianni claimed responsibility for the most recent debacle, a loss in which Philadelphia left enough time for a long Jaguars kickoff return in the final seconds. A fourth consecutive loss when the Eagles face the Panthers would surely light a fire under Sirianni's seat.
16. Las Vegas Raiders (3-2)
Previous rank: 15
The 3-0 start feels like a long time ago, as the Raiders have now lost back-to-back games, including a blowout defeat to the Patriots. Things won't get any easier for Las Vegas any time soon, with the Bills and Rams coming to town in the next two weeks.
17. Carolina Panthers (2-2)
Previous rank: 20
The Panthers came out of their bye week leading the NFC South. They've scored 30-plus points in three of their four games this season and now look to build some momentum on the road against the Eagles. Carolina hasn't had a winning streak of at least three games since October 2025.
18. Detroit Lions (3-2)
Previous rank: 22
The Lions hung 45 points on the Cardinals on Sunday, marking the fourth time in five games they eclipsed the 30-point threshold. But they've also surrendered more than 30 points three times in that span. Detroit makes for great TV, in that most of its games are high-scoring, but the team's recipe isn't exactly conducive to Super Bowl runs.
19. Green Bay Packers (3-2)
Previous rank: 23
The Packers rebounded from an ugly start with back-to-back victories over the Buccaneers and Bears. Jordan Love and Christian Watson were the two best players on the field against Chicago, and the defense produced four sacks and three interceptions. Green Bay might be back.
20. Dallas Cowboys (2-3)
Previous rank: 16

The Cowboys' defense looks no better than it did last year despite all the changes, which included a new coordinator in the offseason. Dak Prescott and the offense will produce points more often than not, but much like the Lions, an extended winning streak will be elusive until the defensive unit gets ironed out.
21. Indianapolis Colts (2-3)
Previous rank: 18
Daniel Jones and Co. were competitive in losses to the Ravens, Chiefs, and Steelers, but you can't be considered a quality team if you always lose to opponents of that ilk. The Colts own wins over the Texans and Commanders - and will probably add the Titans to that list in Week 6 - but ultimately Indy appears stuck in mediocrity.
22. Cleveland Browns (3-2)
Previous rank: 19
The Browns wasted a golden opportunity to get to 4-1 by losing to the Jets, only managing to muster 12 points in the defeat. Their ability to bounce back against the Ravens - whether Lamar Jackson plays for Baltimore or not - will tell us a lot about the legitimacy of Cleveland's 3-2 record.
23. Atlanta Falcons (2-3)
Previous rank: 21
The Falcons had a third consecutive victory in their grasp but let it slip away against the Ravens in overtime. Michael Penix Jr. suffered a rib injury late in that contest, marking yet another setback for the young, oft-injured passer. Penix is hoping to be ready to start against the Bears, and the Falcons' chances of winning that game without him don't look great.
24. Houston Texans (1-4)
Previous rank: 26
DeMeco Ryans' team finally got off the schneid by beating up on the Titans. Houston then finalized a trade for Marvin Harrison Jr., hoping the former top-five pick can spark its offense. The move reunited Harrison with C.J. Stroud, his college quarterback at Ohio State. Harrison entered the NFL as a blue-chip prospect, but the 24-year-old was a major disappointment on the Cardinals.
25. New York Jets (2-3)
Previous rank: 29

Not only did the Jets save their season - for now, at least - by beating the Browns on Sunday, but No. 2 overall pick David Bailey cemented himself as the Defensive Rookie of the Year front-runner with three sacks. New York has quietly put together a top-five defense in coach Aaron Glenn's second year, and its offense is doing enough to hang around in most games.
26. Washington Commanders (1-3-1)
Previous rank: 25
It was supposed to be a great day for the Commanders, who saw Jayden Daniels return from injury and were really close to a divisional victory Sunday over the Giants. The chaotic tie feels like a loss for Washington, but at least Daniels is back, and the NFC East is a complete disaster right now.
27. New Orleans Saints (1-4)
Previous rank: 24
After giving the Lions a run for their money and beating the Ravens, the Saints suffered three consecutive home defeats. Tyler Shough threw only 96 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions versus the Vikings on Sunday, though most QBs have been quiet against Brian Flores' defense lately. Shough and Co. will have a chance to bounce back against the Giants on Sunday, as New Orleans tries to avoid a 1-5 start for the second straight season.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-4)
Previous rank: 30
Just when it looked like the season was a write-off, undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels led the Buccaneers to a road win over the Cowboys on a short week. There is still plenty of work to do for Tampa Bay to get back into the playoff conversation, but notching a win was a good start.
29. Arizona Cardinals (1-4)
Previous rank: 27
Arizona's defense allowed 45 points to Detroit, and it's given up at least 35 in three consecutive games. The team now embarks on a frightening six-game stretch that includes games against the Rams (twice), Broncos, Seahawks, and Chiefs. But hey, at least Cardinals tight end Trey McBride hauled in the catch of the year so far.
30. Los Angeles Chargers (0-5)
Previous rank: 28

Jim Harbaugh's Chargers have been in free fall, and most of the blame sits with the offense. Once one of the game's bright young quarterbacks, Justin Herbert appears to have regressed. Meanwhile, former first-round tailback Omarion Hampton is averaging under four yards per carry, and the receiving corps lacks a real game-changer. The Bolts must take down the first-place Chiefs to avoid going into their bye 0-6.
31. Tennessee Titans (0-5)
Previous rank: 31
Head coach Robert Saleh continues to support quarterback Cam Ward, but it's getting harder and harder to justify keeping the 2025 No. 1 pick as QB1. Ward has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in four of Tennessee's five games this season, and he's passed for only three touchdowns.
32. Miami Dolphins (0-5)
Previous rank: 32
Forget a win, the Dolphins haven't even held a lead in any game this season. They also have the NFL's worst point differential (minus-62). Miami now has a bye week before a matchup against the Jets in one of the easiest games left on its schedule. If Miami can't beat New York, the club could flirt with a 0-17 campaign.
