The Kansas City Chiefs will be shorthanded at wide receiver on Sunday Night Football.
Head coach Andy Reid announced Friday that JuJu Smith-Schuster won't play against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic.
Smith-Schuster remains in concussion protocol after leaving last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second quarter. The 25-year-old, who joined K.C. this past offseason, leads the team's wide receivers with 46 receptions and 615 yards in 2022. He's also scored two touchdowns.
The Chiefs are also missing receiver Mecole Hardman, who was placed on injured reserve Thursday with an abdomen injury. He's racked up six scrimmage touchdowns this year.
Kansas City still rosters tight end Travis Kelce and wide receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Kadarius Toney, among others. Toney, who joined the team in a trade from the New York Giants in October, racked up 90 scrimmage yards and one touchdown on just six touches in his second game with the club in Week 10.
Kelce leads the Chiefs in targets (84), catches (63), receiving yards (740), and TD receptions (eight).
