New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson and quarterback Geno Smith claim that their viral sideline interaction during Sunday's 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins was a big misunderstanding.

"We were collaborating," said Wilson, who appeared to be shouting in Smith's direction during the fourth quarter, according to SNY.

"I don't even think I was talking to Geno. I think we were both heated, but not at each other at all. We were just disappointed with how we were playing up to that point and wanted to be a little more aggressive. That's what that was."

Smith corroborated Wilson's account of the incident.

"He might have been yelling, but I don't think he was yelling at me," Smith said.

Wilson, the Jets' No. 1 receiver, posted season lows with two catches for 26 yards on just three targets. He notably wasn't targeted at all in the first half.

The Jets were booed off the field at MetLife Stadium at the end of the first half while trailing the Dolphins 21-7. Wilson said he understands the fans' frustration with the performance that ultimately handed Miami its first win of the season.

"I don't blame them," Wilson said. "... I'm frustrated."
