The Cincinnati Bengals claimed former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers off waivers Thursday, the club announced.

Seattle parted ways with Flowers earlier this week after three-plus years together. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll explained it was time for a change when asked about the decision Wednesday, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times.

Flowers, who had been critical of the Seahawks' defensive scheme, lost his starting position after the third game of the season.

The 26-year-old was drafted in the fifth round in 2018 and recorded three interceptions over 40 career starts. He'll hope to help the Bengals' secondary, which recently placed Trae Waynes on injured reserve due to a hamstring ailment.
