Lock, Bridgewater to split reps evenly in Broncos' QB battle

The Denver Broncos will split practice snaps evenly between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater throughout their preseason quarterback competition.

"Maybe I'll flip a coin to see who takes the absolute first snap of the offseason and training camp," head coach Vic Fangio told reporters Friday. "But by the end of the day, meaning the end of training camp before those guys make the decision for us with their play, it's going to be a 50-50 proposition.

"Some days, some guy might get more than the other. It'll even out the next day, or two days later. It's not going to be 50-50, probably, every day. But over the course of this offseason and training camp, it will be."

Lock, a second-round pick in 2019, started all 13 games he appeared in last year, but the 24-year-old finished the campaign as one of the NFL's worst-rated passers. He threw 15 interceptions, tied with Carson Wentz for the league's most, and his 57.3 completion percentage ranked last among qualified quarterbacks.

The Broncos acquired Bridgewater in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, but he's never thrown more than 15 touchdown passes in a season. The Panthers benched Bridgewater at one point late last campaign.

Denver has been linked to Aaron Rodgers in trade speculation, but the Green Bay Packers have shown no indication they'll consider moving the disgruntled MVP.
