Wilson pleads for Clowney to rejoin Seahawks: 'I need you, homie'
One of the best players still available on the NFL free-agent market is pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
The 27-year-old has reportedly been in talks with the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets, but Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson wants Clowney to return to the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilson made his appeal Thursday on Instagram when a fan asked him to help persuade Clowney to stay.
"Clowney, come back. If you are listening, bro. We've got another Super Bowl to win, man," Wilson said, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. "We need you. We need you to come back Clowney. ... If you can hear me, please come back, bro. I need you, homie."
Clowney spent just the 2019 season with the Seahawks after being acquired via trade and playing out the final year of his contract. He appeared in 13 games while producing career lows in tackles (31) and sacks (three). However, he added another 1.5 sacks in Seattle's two playoff games.
