The Denver Broncos have moved quickly to replace fired offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

Former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur is expected to take the role in Denver, though the deal is still to be completed, sources told Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Denver announced Sunday that Scangarello would be fired after just one season.

The Broncos struggled on offense for much of 2019 before a late switch to rookie quarterback Drew Lock. The AFC West team won four of its last five games with Lock under center and averaged 21.4 points per contest.

Shurmur, meanwhile, was fired by the Giants after two seasons in charge. The 54-year-old has vast experience as an offensive coordinator, previously holding the position with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and then-St. Louis Rams.
