Zeke content with Cowboys' increased passing: 'Ride it while it's hot'
After leading the NFL in rushing yards per game for three consecutive seasons, Ezekiel Elliott is experiencing a career low in that category while Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott throws his way to his best professional campaign.
But despite the decline in his individual production, the star running back approves of how things are going for the Cowboys' offensive unit.
"When someone has the hot hand, keep giving them the ball," he said Wednesday, according to Jori Epstein of USA TODAY. "The passing game is rolling right now so you've got to ride it and ride it while it's hot."
The past two weeks saw Prescott attempt at least 45 passes in back-to-back games for the first time in his NFL career. He currently leads the league with 3,221 passing yards and his 21 touchdown passes are three shy of a personal best.
Dallas' running game, meanwhile, ranks seventh in the NFL with 131.9 yards per game, but the Cowboys haven't topped the 100-yard mark on the ground in either of their last two contests. Through 10 contests, Elliott has rushed for 833 yards after averaging 95.6 rushing yards per game in 2018.
"We know we've got some work to do on the run game," the 24-year-old said. "Week in and week out, we're going to attack that and we're going to get better in the run game. But as long as the offense is rolling and we're scoring 35 points, that's great in the NFL."
Dallas put up 35 points in its Week 11 victory over the Detroit Lions, eclipsing 30 points for the sixth time this season.
The 6-4 Cowboys will face football's No. 1 ranked defense in a Week 12 clash with the New England Patriots on Sunday.
