San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had history within his grasp Sunday, but failed to snatch it after being held without a catch in the second half.
Kittle had 210 receiving yards in the first half versus the Denver Broncos, putting him five yards away from breaking Shannon Sharpe's single-game receiving record for a tight end. He was completely silenced in the second half, though, and didn't make a single reception after the break.
Kyle Shanahan said he apologized to George Kittle walking off the field for not getting him the record.

The 49ers defeated the Broncos 20-14 at Levi's Stadium to earn their third win of the campaign.
