The Chicago Bears announced the signing of left tackle Charles Leno to a four-year extension.
The deal is worth $38 million, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
Leno is expected to receive $21.5 million in guaranteed money, which will make him the NFL's 14th-highest paid left tackle on annual average.
The 25-year-old former seventh-round pick has started 29 consecutive games for the Bears. He finished 2016 as Pro Football Focus' 42nd-ranked tackle with a 71.2 grade, specializing in pass protection.
Leno's extension, along with the one recently awarded to left guard Kyle Long, secures the left side of an offensive line charged with helping to develop rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who's expected to begin the 2017 season behind Mike Glennon on the Bears' depth chart. Both offensive linemen are signed through the 2021 season.
Leno had one year remaining on his rookie contract at $1.797 million. He's now expected to earn $8.797 million in 2017.
