Pittsburgh Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter was arrested Sunday following an incident at a Pittsburgh bar, police confirmed to the Beaver County Times.
The charges include simple assault, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct, according to Chris Mueller of the Beaver County Times.
Porter was initially charged with making terroristic threats, but the charge was later removed, reports Jacob Klinger from PennLive.com.
Porter was released on $25,000 bail early Monday, according to Steven Fisher from WPXI.
Police confirmed that an officer was called to The Flats on Carson around 9:30 p.m. "due to an unruly customer who was in the process of assaulting the doorman," reports Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten released the following statement:
We are aware of an incident tonight involving Joey Porter. We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and we will have no further comment until we get more details.
Porter has been part of the Steelers' coaching staff since 2014. The 39-year-old played for the Steelers from 1999-2006 and helped the team win Super Bowl XL in 2005.
