No. 1 overall recruit Overton will reclassify to 2022 class
Lebbeus Overton, the top overall recruit for 2023, will reclassify to the 2022 class, he announced Thursday, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren.
A five-star defensive end, Overton will decide between Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas A&M, with his final commitment expected around April.
"I really based them all off the relationship I have with each program, and I felt those were the best programs for me," Overton told 247 Sports' Steve Wiltfong.
Overton's father, Milton, added that academics will be a major factor for his son, who'll enroll in college classes this spring.
"I'd say priority-wise, it's always going to be school and academics, who's going to provide the best academic opportunities for him in business and engineering," Milton explained, per VanHaaren. "Secondly, it's going to be where can he go and develop to become a better player, and that's the order. So it'd be principle-based."
Texas A&M claimed the No. 1 overall recruiting class for 2022 after National Signing Day ended Wednesday.
