Washington State-Stanford canceled due to Cougars' COVID-19 issues

The Pac-12 has canceled Saturday's game between Washington State and Stanford because the Cougars don't have the minimum number of scholarship players available due to their COVID-19 cases.

Washington State has been dealing with COVID-19 issues, with quarterback Jayden De Laura reportedly testing positive. The Cougars are currently scheduled to play Washington on Nov. 27.

Stanford will not be searching for a replacement opponent in wake of the cancellation.

"Stanford Athletics has explored alternative options to replace Washington State and at this time does not expect to be able to fill the opening. The program will turn its attention to Cal and the 123rd Big Game next Friday," the school said in a statement, according to The Athletic's Stewart Mandel.

The contest joins Arizona State-Colorado as the second Pac-12 game called off this week. Arizona State has been battling a virus outbreak of its own, and two of the school's three games this season have been canceled.
