Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders will return Saturday against Iowa State after missing the team's last two games, sources told Stadium's Brett McMurphy.

Sanders suffered a high ankle sprain during the Cowboys' season-opening win over Tulsa on Sept. 19.

The sophomore quarterback was named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2019 after completing 62.8% of his pass attempts for 2,065 yards and 16 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 628 yards and two scores.

Junior college transfer Ethan Bullock took over under center during Sanders' first game on the sideline, but third-string quarterback Shane Illingworth replaced him against West Virginia. Illingworth then started against Kansas, throwing for 139 yards with one interception in a victory.

Oklahoma State currently sits third in the Big 12 with a 2-0 conference record (3-0 overall).
