Jacob Eason is heading home.

The former Georgia quarterback has officially transferred to Washington, the school announced on Tuesday.

A Lake Stevens, Wash. native, Eason was a five-star prospect and the No. 5 overall player in the country in the class of 2016. He entered 2017 as the unquestioned starter but sustained a knee injury in the first quarter of the season-opener. This opened the door for freshman Jake Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

The quarterback's transfer to the Huskies was seen as an inevitability after Fromm's successful campaign.

Eason's move back to his home state comes at the perfect time for head coach Chris Petersen. The signal-caller will have to sit out next season due to the NCAA's transfer rule, which will coincide with Jake Browning's senior year in Seattle. After Browning moves on, Eason will be in line for a starting spot.
