Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked if any players have stood out to him during the early portion of fall camp, and his report wasn't glowing.
"No. Everybody's just working," Swinney said Tuesday. "We're just a bunch of nobodies. We'll see if anybody becomes somebody as we play some games."
Clemson is attempting to bounce back from a 7-6 campaign in 2025 in which the team missed the College Football Playoff and lost the Pinstripe Bowl. It marked the fewest wins in a season for the Tigers since 2010.
At the ACC Football Kickoff in July, Swinney said his team "stunk last year" and "lost some games that we should have won."
Clemson's 2025 record didn't reflect the talent on its roster, which produced nine picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Tigers return several starters who are expected to spark a resurgence, including preseason All-ACC standouts Bryant Wesco Jr., Sammy Brown, and Will Heldt.
Senior Christopher Vizzina entered fall camp in pole position to take over at quarterback after Cade Klubnik went off to the NFL. However, freshman Tait Reynolds is pushing the upperclassman for the starting role.
Swinney appears content to downplay expectations entering his 19th season at Clemson. The Tigers played in four national championship games and won two national titles between 2015-2019 but have made just one CFP appearance (2024) over the past six years.
