As the NBA continues to expand its global footprint, they continue to be rewarded with more and more international talent joining the league's rank and file.
With the 2014-15 set to open on Tuesday, the league has an all-time record 101 international players across its 30 rosters, good for 22.6 percent of the league's 447-player populace. Those 101 international players hail from 37 different countries, and mark an increase of nine international bodies over the previous record, set last season.
The defending champion San Antonio Spurs set the pace with nine international players, and a dozen teams have four or more non-U.S. players set to suit up.
Of those 37 countries, Canada is on top with a record 12 players in the league. That number, of course, includes each of the last two No. 1 overall draft picks.
In 1990-91, the league had just 21 international players, a number that grew to 45 by 2000-01 and 92 by last season. It's impressive how aggressively the league has been able to grow its global brand, expand its scouting and player development internationally, and truly become a worldwide league.
