The Orlando Magic are shutting down forward Paolo Banchero for the remainder of Summer League play.
"I want to give these other guys an opportunity to play, to kind of be able to show what they're capable of doing,” Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley said Monday, according to ESPN. "That's the point of Summer League, you know, give them a chance ... an opportunity for these other guys to see what they're capable of doing. And we've seen what Paolo was capable of doing."
Orlando shocked the NBA world last month when they selected Banchero with the No. 1 overall pick. The Duke product showed off his versatile offensive game during his brief stint in Las Vegas, averaging 20 points, six assists, and five boards over two Summer League appearances.
However, taking care of the ball continues to be an issue for Banchero. The rookie tallied the fifth-most turnovers in the ACC last season and coughed up the ball 10 times in two Summer League contests.
"I was happy with the way I played, but there was a lot I could improve on," Banchero said. "The second game I had a lot of turnovers. Just getting in even better shape. I felt like, those were my first two games, so just build my wind back up. But overall, I think I did pretty good.
"This time in Vegas has helped me a lot as a basketball player."
