The Minnesota Timberwolves are strongly interested in a potential move for Boston Celtics guard Derrick White this summer, sources told The Athletic's Sam Amick.

Addressing the point guard rotation will likely be an offseason priority for the Timberwolves, with 38-year-old Mike Conley and midseason acquisition Ayo Dosunmu both set to become free agents. Meanwhile, Donte DiVincenzo, who was Anthony Edwards' most frequent backcourt partner last season, is also expected to miss the majority, if not all, of the 2026-27 campaign after tearing his right Achilles tendon during Minnesota's first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.

A three-time All-Defensive selection, White was instrumental on both offense and defense during the Celtics' deep playoff runs in recent years, including their 2024 NBA championship.

Though White averaged a career-high 16.5 points across 77 starts last season, he recorded a career-worst 39.4% from the field, marking the first time he's failed to convert 40% of his attempts in nine NBA campaigns. His 32.7% clip from three was also the second-worst of his career behind his 2021-22 campaign, which he split between the San Antonio Spurs and Celtics.

The 31-year-old is under contract for two more guaranteed seasons on the $118-million extension he signed with Boston in July 2024, with a $34.8-million player option for 2028-29.
