The Los Angeles Lakers agreed to a deal with free-agent guard Rajon Rondo, the team announced Tuesday.

The veteran floor general signed a one-year, $2.6-million deal with the Lakers after clearing waivers Monday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Rondo, who spent two seasons with the Lakers from 2018-20, agreed to a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.

Rondo is still expected to make his full $7.5 million salary this season, including the buyout, Wojnarowski reports.

The four-time All-Star was traded to Memphis earlier in August as part of a four-player deal that sent Eric Bledsoe to Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old split 45 games during the 2020-21 season between the Atlanta Hawks and Clippers, posting combined averages of 5.4 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.4 rebounds.

Rondo was part of the Lakers team that won the 2020 NBA title, and he's the latest veteran offseason addition for a team rife with aging players. Russell Westbrook (32 years old), Carmelo Anthony (37), Dwight Howard (35), Trevor Ariza (36), Wayne Ellington (33), and Kent Bazemore (32) were among the franchise's other summer signings.
