Bucks GM: Giannis won't require surgery on hyperextended knee

Concerns over Giannis Antetokounmpo's ailing left knee can be put to rest.

Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst said Friday the NBA Finals MVP won't require surgery after he hyperextended his knee in the Eastern Conference finals.

"He's fine," Horst said, according to The Associated Press' Steve Megargee. "I can't explain it, but he's fine."

Antetokounmpo suffered the injury in Game 4 versus the Atlanta Hawks. After missing Games 5 and 6 of that series, Antetokounmpo returned for Game 1 of The Finals versus the Phoenix Suns, defying expectations after being listed as doubtful until shortly before the start of the championship series.

The 26-year-old averaged 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, five assists, and 1.8 blocks per game in The Finals, helping Milwaukee secure its first NBA title since 1971.
