The NBA plans to launch a players-only NBA 2K tournament beginning Friday on ESPN, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins will reportedly be among the participants in the 10-day, 16-player tournament. Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, and Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond are also expected to compete.

Some clubs have played out the remainder of their 2019-20 schedule on the popular video game series since the NBA season was put on an indefinite hiatus.

The Phoenix Suns were the first organization to live stream their NBA 2K games on Twitch. In Phoenix's first virtual matchup, the club drew as many as 12,500 viewers.

Suns guard Ty Jerome also got involved, representing his team in its second NBA 2K tilt.
