The Houston Rockets have signed former 2013 first overall selection Anthony Bennett to a non-guaranteed deal, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Bennett was the Cleveland Cavaliers' top pick in what's widely regarded as a weak draft, but quickly fell out of favor in the league and has struggled to battle his way back. The forward has bounced around between the G League and international play since his last NBA stint in 2017 with the Brooklyn Nets.

Despite being labeled a bust, the 26-year-old has shown signs of potential as a stretch-big, connecting on 42.2 percent of 5.4 3-point attempts in 68 career G League games.

The Rockets currently have little depth and can take a swing at a low-risk option like Bennett. He could even crack Houston's thin frontcourt rotation if he's able to stick around for the season.

Bennett averaged 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 25 games for the G League's Agua Caliente Clippers in 2018-19.
