The NBA has fined Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban $600,000 for public statements detrimental to the Association, NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced on Wednesday.

Cuban went on Hall of Famer Julius Erving's podcast "House Call with Dr. J" and admitted he told people within the organization "losing is our best option." The comments on the podcast were made on Feb. 18.

"Dr. J is my childhood idol. I got caught up fanboying him and said the wrong thing in the wrong way," Cuban said in response to the fine, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.

The fine comes amid an already disastrous day for Cuban and the Mavericks, who are dealing with reports of sexual mi and domestic abuse within the organization.
