Amid one of the darkest slumps in LeBron James' storied career, the Cavaliers appear close to adding some much-needed reinforcements.

The team is deep into trade talks with the Sacramento Kings surrounding veteran point guard George Hill, ESPN's Brian Windhorst revealed Tuesday on "The Jump."

Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert and big man Channing Frye are among the "primary players" being discussed in trade talks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Kings were reportedly shopping Hill as early as mid-December, and the Cavaliers have been linked to the 31-year-old in recent days.

The 10th-year pro is struggling through arguably the most challenging season of his career. He's averaging 10.3 points - down from a career-high 16.9 last season with the Jazz - and playing a major role on the only defense worse than Cleveland's this season.

Hill signed a three-year, $57-million contract with the Kings last summer and is set to make $37 million through 2020 - though his team can buy out the final year of his deal for just $1 million.
