The Los Angeles Lakers assigned guards Bronny James and Cameron Carr to the G League's Coachella Valley Lakers, the team announced Thursday, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. The G League season begins Friday.

James appeared in five games for the Lakers this season, averaging one point in limited minutes while shooting 66.7% from the field. He's the oldest son of former Laker LeBron James, who joined the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason. Los Angeles selected Bronny in the second round of the 2024 draft, and he split time between Los Angeles and the G League during his first two NBA seasons.

Carr, the 24th overall pick in the 2026 draft, very briefly appeared in three games for the Lakers. The rookie missed Los Angeles' first six regular-season games with an oblique injury.

The Lakers waived 2024 first-round pick Dalton Knecht in their final roster cutdown for the 2026-27 regular season. He later signed a two-way deal with the New York Knicks and made his debut with the NBA team Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls, scoring 10 points and collecting seven rebounds in 16 minutes.
