Oladipo, Cousins named Players of the Week
Indiana Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo and New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins have been named Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week.
For the week of Oct. 23-29, Cousins averaged a league-leading 36.3 points, and ranked second with 16 rebounds per game. He shot 54.4 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from 3-point range, adding 6.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks for good measure.
He led the Pelicans to a 2-1 week that included Saturday's drubbing of the Cleveland Cavaliers, in which Cousins went for a 29-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. That game came on the heels of arguably the most impressive statistical performance for any player so far this season, when Cousins hung 41 points, 23 rebounds, and six assists on his former team in his return to Sacramento.
Oladipo was third in scoring for the week, averaging 28.7 points on a blistering .604/.600/.950 shooting line, while leading his Pacers to a 2-1 week of their own. That week featured a 23-point rout of the Minnesota Timberwolves and a come-from-behind victory over the San Antonio Spurs in which Oladipo hit the game-winning three. Even in the game the Pacers lost, he dropped a season-high 35 points on 11-of-18 shooting.
