Jerry West calls Silver's Durant comments 'sour grapes'
Jerry West has taken issue with Adam Silver's comments about his ball club.
The Golden State Warriors executive called out the NBA commissioner on a local radio station Friday, believing that Silver's criticism of the Kevin Durant signing was more than unjust.
"It's sour grapes," West said on the San Jose Mercury News' TK Show. "We signed Shaquille O'Neal and it wasn't as big an uproar as this. Listen, the owners make the rules. They negotiate with the players. And for them to say something like that, to me it's wrong on their part. The commissioner said something like that and I called him about it. I told him I didn't think the comment was fair. It's not fair to Kevin. It's not fair to the Warriors. It's not fair to any team going forward who will sign a free agent of this stature."

Silver created a stir in the Bay Area earlier this summer, stating that the Durant signing was not "good for the league," and the NBA would need to "reexamine" its current system.
"The players bargained for this," West added. "They have a chance to go play where they want to. I only wish I had that opportunity in my career, and I'm sure a lot of other people felt the same way."
Whether West has a point or not, the elimination of superteams has more than likely been brought up in the recent CBA meetings between Silver and the NBPA's Michele Roberts. Both sides have until Dec. 15, 2016 to opt out of the current CBA, but reports suggest the two could come to an agreement before then.
