VIDEO: Didier Drogba makes his debut for Montreal Impact
Bienvenue a Montreal, Didier!
Didier Drogba has made his debut for the Montreal Impact at last, coming into the match on the hour mark against the Philadelphia Union to the delight of the eagerly-awaiting supporters at Stade Saputo.
Drogba, 37, started off the bench against Philadelphia and replaced Dilly Duka, moving up top for the Impact. Fans began chanting his name and gave him a standing ovation as he entered the field.
The former Chelsea striker scored 164 goals in 381 appearances in all competitions with the Blues over a nine-season period. His latest adventure sees him swap Chelsea's blue shirt for that of Montreal's.
He was greeted with great fanfare upon his arrival in Canada and his well-publicized debut date helped the club sell-out Stade Saputo for the first time in league play this year, too, with an announced attendance of 20,801.
