Cody Gakpo is staying at Liverpool after all.
Manchester City had a £75-million offer for the Dutch forward rejected by the Reds, which ended negotiations. As a result, City will now turn their full focus toward signing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea ahead of Tuesday's 6 p.m. ET transfer deadline. (The Athletic)

David done at Juve: Jonathan David is joining Atletico Madrid on an initial loan from Juventus. Diego Simeone's side will cover more than half of David's salary this season, and Atleti will have a €25-million purchase option to make the move permanent next summer. (Fabrizio Romano)
Eyes back on Ndiaye: With their move for Cody Gakpo now off, Manchester City have once again made contact with Iliman Ndiaye's agents. Ndiaye's proposed transfer to Tottenham - which would see Richarlison go the other way - is in danger of falling apart. Man City are willing to include Jack Grealish in a potential deal for Ndiaye. Buying Balogun: Everton have sent an official bid to Monaco for Folarin Balogun, the U.S. international striker whose red card caused enormous controversy at this summer's World Cup. Magpies get Matias: Newcastle have reached an agreement with Lille to sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo. The 21-year-old Belgian will arrive for €60 million plus add-ons. (Fabrizio Romano)
Juve shop in England: Juventus are signing Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham on an initial loan that includes a €28-million purchase option. The option becomes mandatory if Juve qualify for Europe and Sarr plays in half of their games. Convoluted deal: Promising Atalanta teenager Honest Ahanor is joining Crystal Palace from Atalanta, via Chelsea. The Blues can't send another player on loan to Palace this season, so the 18-year-old defender will officially go straight from Atalanta to Palace for now, but once his loan expires he'll formally join Chelsea for £40 million. Swap talk: Everton and Tottenham have an agreement in principle that will see Iliman Ndiaye join Spurs and Richarlison head back the other way to the Toffees. The deals, if completed, will be filed as separate operations for financial purposes. (The Athletic)
Sorloth an option: Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to sign Alexander Sorloth from Atletico Madrid. With questions surrounding Joshua Zirkzee's future at Old Trafford, the Norwegian could be a late signing before the window closes. (TEAMtalk)
Gala's double deal: With Rafael Leao already on his way to Turkey from AC Milan, Galatasaray are considering a double dip by also signing Youssouf Fofana from the Rossoneri. A loan move is an option. (Fabrizio Romano)
New netminder: Liverpool are monitoring 18-year-old Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans. If Giorgi Mamardashvili leaves Anfield then the Reds will try to bring Brughmans in immediately, otherwise they'll plan to wait one year before officially having him join the club. (Ben Jacobs)

Villa win the race: Aston Villa have an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Ibrahim Mbaye for €55 million. The teenage winger was linked with Liverpool for much of the summer. (The Athletic)
Enzo has agreement: Enzo Fernandez has a verbal agreement with Manchester City over contract terms. His potential transfer from Chelsea is entirely dependent on whether or not the two clubs can now agree on a fee. Man City haven't sent an official bid to Chelsea yet. (Fabrizio Romano)
Possible replacement: If Fernandez does end up leaving Chelsea, the Blues are considering signing 22-year-old Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as the Argentine's replacement. (Daily Mail)
