The Los Angeles Dodgers began a weekend series in Colorado optimistic that Yasiel Puig would return to the lineup Monday when they open a three-game set against the Miami Marlins.

Puig's return to Dodger Stadium, however, no longer appears imminent after the 24-year-old aggravated his injured left hamstring during Friday's rehab game with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Puig, who landed on the disabled list April 26, pulled up lame while running to first base Friday night and proceeded immediately to the clubhouse. After the game, his second contest with Rancho Cucamonga, Puig said through an interpreter that he felt his hamstring tighten up after the sun went down and said he intends to take the next two days off.

Puig started Friday's game as the designated hitter - he homered in his first at-bat before departing - but was expected to the play the outfield both Saturday and Sunday before potentially rejoining the Dodgers after the weekend.

Instead, Puig will head back to Los Angeles for further work there, according to Ron Cervenka of ThinkBlueLA.
