The Houston Astros traded right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., left-hander Colton Gordon, and cash considerations to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor-league outfielder Jadyn Fielder, the teams announced Wednesday.
McCullers waived his no-trade clause to complete the deal, a source told Chandler Rome of The Athletic.
McCullers, who's in the final season of his five-year, $85-million contract, hasn't pitched since May 13 due to a shoulder injury. However, he's struggled when he's been on the mound this season, posting a 6.86 ERA across eight starts.
The 32-year-old has spent his entire career with the Astros, winning two World Series with the club in 2017 and 2022. McCullers also earned an All-Star nod in 2017 and owns a career ERA of 3.85. Though he's battled injuries throughout his career, McCullers hasn't looked the same since missing the 2023 and 2024 seasons after undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right arm. In 2025, he finished with a 6.51 ERA over 13 starts.
Gordon, 27, has appeared in 24 games (15 starts) during his big-league career. The southpaw owns a 5.95 ERA and 7.8 K/9 in 95 1/3 innings.
Fielder, 21, is the son of former big-leaguer Prince Fielder. The Florida native owns a .233/.415/.398 slash line with three home runs and 23 RBIs in 45 Single-A contests this season.
The Brewers lead the NL Central with a 59-37 record, while the Astros sit third in the AL West at 47-51.
