Braden Montgomery's big-league debut couldn't have gone any better, hitting a walk-off home run to help the Chicago White Sox beat the first-place Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.

"That was surreal," Montgomery said following the 6-5 win, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers. "I couldn't hear anything. I was told the crowd was pretty loud."
The 23-year-old joined an exclusive club with his first performance, becoming just the fifth player since 1900 to hit a walk-off homer in their debut.
"It was something out of dreams," Montgomery said. "It's something that I couldn't draw up any better myself. ... This whole day I've been trying to get grounded, understand what the new normal is like for baseball on this stage."
The home run capped a 2-for-5 performance for Montgomery, who's the 12th player to make his MLB debut for the White Sox this season.
Montgomery was one of four players acquired by the White Sox in the Garrett Crochet deal with the Boston Red Sox in 2024.
